Tough economic times calls for tough measures. The GL-Class fared well across the world but sliding sales have rung alarm bells at Mercedes. Despite the upcoming facelift to the GL-Class being a soft facelift with only minor alterations to the front and rear bumper fascias and tail-lamps, we know a lot of development work still goes into these prototypes. The oldest coverage of the GL-Class facelift goes back to August 2007 when a purple prototype was spied in Death Valley, CA. The 3.3 tonne SUV will go on sale in 2010 to compete head-to-head with the Audi Q7, Toyota Land Cruiser V8 and the BMW X5.
