Toyota Prius mpv is called Alpha
In late March 2011 Toyota MPV variant of the Prius shown. This should be called Alpha. The car is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack rather than the nickel metal hydride batteries that serve in the current Prius. The plug-in Prius, which at the moment makes test miles, however, is already equipped with lithium-ion technique may be. Modern batteries weigh one third of the weight of the nickel metal hydrides.
The Alpha is a foot longer than the Prius and has three rows of seats. That makes him a seven-seater. The wheelbase is only two notes with inches to. Even a five-seater is planned. That would have nickel metal hydride batteries classic.
The Alpha is equipped with the 99 hp 1.8-liter gasoline engine serving in the current Prius. The electric motor should deliver about 81 hp. The fuel consumption of the Alpha will be slightly higher than that of the Prius as the car bigger and heavier. The appearance of the MPV will withdraw from the Hybrid-X Concept (photo), Toyota in 2007 showed.
